2023 ESPAS Annual Conference

The ESPAS annual conference is an interinstitutional event about foresight and its streamlining into European policymaking, co-organised by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission and the European Parliament.

I developed a modular branding playing with typographic messages, abstract shapes combining into illustrations, one for each topic of discussion, and black and white photography.

Concept

from fragmentation to unity / build a sense of purpose and a vision for the EU / strengthen stability and security for the future / look at different scenarios with optimism / belief that we are still in control / sense of agency

Visual constraints

existing colour palette but with inverted colours (no dark background for 'colour positivity') / keeping it modular and abstract to be able to represent (or frame) different topics (geopolitics, economics, technology, fairness, ethics...)

Realisation

geometric shapes as building blocks, bold typography (as in previous editions) in a block. Building possibilities: stairs, a bridge, an arch... Human hands or other shapes influence the balance.
